Best Buddies

Best Buddies – Vrais Copains Canada is a national charitable organization dedicated to enhancing our communities through one-to-one friendships between individuals with intellectual disabilities and students. Best Buddies is grounded in the belief that friendship is important to the development of all individuals and that for all individuals with intellectual disabilities friendship is a medium through which they can become a part of their communities.

Ontario Trillium Foundation
The trillium foundation provides non-profit organizations with grants for many types of projects. The Website provides funding guidelines,proposal forms,and lists those organizations that have received Grants..

The Website of the Canadian Association for Independent Living.

Community Inclusion News
A newspaper all about inclusive issues, as well as providing a wide range of topics of interest to people with disabilities.

Canadian Association for Community Living
a national, non-profit federation, with provincial chapters working to ensure children and adults with developmental disabilities are able to live quality lives in their communities.

Participation House (London, Ont)
An interesting,very successful and growing Housing model in London, Ontario. The website explains what Participation House is, and other details of interest to organizations that may want to duplicate the concept.

 

Microboards and Individualized Funding

The Individualized Funding Coalition of Ontario
The coalition in Ontario working for the option to move government funding away from "transfer payment agencies" and directly to the individual, to ensure the supports/services and quality of life that are needed are obtained.

Guelph-"Personal Entities" Focus on Microboards
An overview of the concept of personal entities ( microboards) for obtaining "individualized funding" for persons with disabilities. This material was presented at a seminar in Guelph. Of particular interest are the draft Articles of Incorporation, which could be used to create a microboard in Ontario.

Vela Microboard Association
