Inaugural Mother’s Day fundraiser nets $8,000
The First Annual Mother’s Day Brunch in support of Christmas Exchange and Lifetime Networks Ottawa raised close to $8,000 for the two charities. More than 200 people attended the event, which was hosted by Dave Smith. “The money raised will help several families in need this coming December,” said Marilyn Matheson, executive director of Christmas Exchange, a local charity established in 1915. In 2009, Christmas Exchange provided direct assistance in the way of food hampers or redeemable grocery vouchers to 24,393 people in 9,948 families. Lifetime Networks Ottawa is a charitable organization that supports families who have a relative with a disability.
