Mentoring Seniors

What is it?

  • A pilot program initiated by Lifetime Networks Ottawa (LNO) - in co-operation with and with the support of the Senior Citizens Council in the spirit of "SENIORS SERVING SENIORS" - to train a group of seniors to serve as mentors to other seniors to plan the future of a family member with a disability.

How is it funded?

  • By a grant from HRSDC's New Horizons for Seniors program.

 Who are the mentors?

  • Senior volunteers, with life experince and knowledge in various areas, are recruited from the community to help other seniors. LNO is providing training, reference material and guidance to access the various resources available in the community.

 Who can benefit from it?

  • Any senior with a family member with a disability living in the Ottawa area.
